West Coast Romance: A Valentine’s Wedding Weekend in Beautiful British Columbia
Set against the moody romance of the West Coast landscape, Kylee Wofford Maki and Fraser Maki’s Valentine’s wedding weekend was a true love letter to winter in Vancouver last February. Newly engaged in August 2024, the couple didn’t want to wait for summer’s predictable sunshine to say “I do,” choosing instead to embrace the inherent romance of February, because what could be more fitting than a wedding on Valentine’s weekend?
When looking for their venue, Kylee - the bride and Vancouver actress shared, from the moment they stepped into the then Shangri-La Vancouver, its timeless elegance and exceptional hospitality made the decision effortless. The result was a celebration that felt effortlessly chic, undeniably classy, and deeply romantic. Proof (and justice for winter brides!!) that winter weddings can be just as breathtaking as any summer affair!

A Classic Approach with Intention
The aesthetic? Chic. Timeless. Classy. Romantic.
When it came to planning their day, Kylee and Fraser leaned into tradition rather than breaking from it. In fact, many of their choices were intentionally classic and quite traditional, including forgoing a first look altogether. Both felt strongly that the very first time they would see one another should be the moment Kylee walked down the aisle.
In a wedding world where the non-traditional way has become increasingly common, their decision felt refreshingly timeless allowing the ceremony itself to hold all the anticipation, emotion, and magic of that first glance!

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING?
“There was a moment towards the end of our first dance where the band was playing, the cameras were capturing moments we’ll look back on forever, and the room was filled with our oldest and dearest friends and family cheering us on — truly a moment we will never forget.” — Kylee
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE SONG?
“We chose “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. There is an iconic horn section that comes in at the chorus, and we re-created that moment with a local brass band.” — Kylee

Fashion That Felt Timeless
True to the overall aesthetic of the day, Kylee’s wedding fashion was effortlessly chic and undeniably classic. She chose to wear just one dress from ceremony to last dance, a decision rooted in finding the gown she loved so much she never wanted to change! Her form-fitting Pronovias dress featured intricate beading along the sides, adding a subtle touch of sparkle while maintaining a sleek, timeless silhouette.
Fraser’s look echoed that same refined sensibility. He wore a custom Surmesur suit, designed with a traditional and polished vision in mind, perfectly complementing the elegant tone of the celebration.
An Anniversary Tradition in the Making
That love for meaningful luxury didn’t end with the wedding weekend. To mark their anniversaries moving forward, the couple plans to stay at a different Shangri-La hotel each year — a sentimental tradition inspired by where their marriage began, and one that turns each anniversary into a new chapter of their love story!

FOR OTHERS IN THE WEDDING PLANNING PROCESS
Small touches go a long way! We had matchbooks of our dog smoking a cigar — people still ask us for more of them! A personalized note was awaiting every guest at their reception table — this was a hit (and we loved writing them)… simple, yet meaningful things make the day feel even more special.
